Daniel and I had been planning during to week to go to the Manti temple on Saturday. Daniel kept saying things like you should dress nice, make sure you bring your camera, you're for sure coming to the Manti temple with me on Saturday, right? and stuff like that, so I was prectically positive that he was going to propose at the Manti temple. I thought it was kind of, what's the word, over done? ironic? unoriginal? cleche? what ever, to propose at the temple, but that was ok because he was going to propose, and that's what mattered.
Then, after an hour and a half drive to the temple, as we parked in the parking lot suddenlly I had a feeling come over me, and I realized that I'd been too hopefully to think that'd he'd propose at the temple, and before we even got out of the car I knew he wasn't going to propose there. I realized that Daniel really likes the Manti temple, so of course he wanted me to look nice and be sure to bring my camera; he wanted my first time at that temple to have extra good memories. I was kind of sad because all week I'd been waiting to go to the temple to be proposed to, and now I'd realized that it wasn't going to happen, but still every turn we went around I was hoping to find some kind of picnic or something set up telling me he was going to propose, but it never came. After a while of walking around the grounds, taking pictures, and laying on the grass in the sun we decided to leave.
Then we drove another hour and a half back to provo. Part way through the drive Daniel got really tired, so he had me drive the rest of the way. On our way back we stopped and got a frosty from Wendy's. I loooove frosties. Then we went to Trafolga to play mini golf! That wa really fun! We just dorked around, and didn't really take anythink seriouslly, which was nice. We ended up finding an extra ball, so we played two full games of mini golf instead of one, well actually only one and a half because I ended up hitting the ball through the fence, so we had to stop :p But part way through our second game I reached down to get the ball out of the hole, and found a ring in the hole. It was one of those fake diamond rings that you'd find at Clairs. I thought that it was really pretty, but wondered how it had gotten there, I asked Daniel if he thought it belonged to the girl who was playing a head of us, and if I should go ask her. He said no. I laughed at that because I thought he was being funny, so I said something like "oh really", and he said he knew it wasn't her's because he had put it in there when i wasn't looking. I didn't believe him, but then he kept insisting till i finally believed :p Then he said that he was sorry that he didn't have the real engagement ring yet, and he wanted me to know he was working on it, he hadn't forgotten, or something like that. I thought it was really sweet, especially because when ever we were in the mall and we'd pass a Clairs I'd make us go in and look at the fake rings. I had always wanted a fake diamond ring, but never had a reason to buy one. I thought it was sweet that he got it for me because he knew i wanted one! But after that I was 100% sure that he wasn't going to propose that day. I was sad about it, but I was so much happier because I had that fake ring :)
When we got to Amber's apartment a guy in a suit opened the door and asked if we were the honored guests, my first thought was 'no, we're just here to get a movie', and I felt bad because I thought that we'd walked in on someone elses nice evening, but then Daniel said yes we were, and I was really surprised. Seriouslly, REALLY surprised, and it's honestlly very hard to surprise me! Amber had set out a very nice candel lit table for us, complete with our favorite champagne glasses and everything. Then they guy in the suit served us our drinks (sparklying cider) and our salad. Then both he and Amber disappeared. At this point I knew that he was going to propose. I was SOOO happy! Then our waiter came back and served us our main course. It was pasta, but it looked really fancy, this was a legit meal! And actually I found out that the guy who was serving us is actually a waiter, that's why he was so good at what he was doing :p After he served us our dinner Amber came and set out our desserts for us, and she and the guy left because they were actually in the middle of a date :p
When Daniel and I were done with our pasta Daniel cleared my plate for me, but before he got our desserts he went over to Amber's pantry and pulled out a boquet of roses. He gave me the flowers, got down on one knee, pulled out the ring, and said "Jessica Eve Toborg, will you marry me". I actually started to cry, I was SO happy! I said yes of course! :) Then after a lot of hugging kissing and pictures we ate our dessert.
Later I found out a lot of things about the day: When we were going to the Manti temple Daniel drove extra slow because he needed to give Amber a lot of time to prepare our dinner for us. When he let me drive on the way back to provo he slept and I drove fast, so he realized that he had to make up for the time I'd saved, so that's why he suggested we get a frosty! Then while we were playing mini golf, not only did we go extra slow, and play two games, but we also played a few archade games and got dip 'n dots, also Daniel kept going to the bathroom to kill more time. I should have realized something was up because he hardly ever goes to the restroom. Also he kept looking at he watch while we were at trifalga, I had asked him why, and he just said because he wanted to know what time it was, and i believed him! :p Also, I found out that he'd kept the ring with him all day long just incase he decided to propose sooner! So the whole time the ring was within arms reach and I didn't know!
Daniel's plan had been to make me think he'd propose at the Manti temple to throw me off, and it worked. Then Daniel pulled the fake ring thing on me during mini golf, hopeing to make me a little frusturated, but actually it made me happy, which i think was good because i didn't want to be frusturated any more because i was already kind of sad thinking he wasn't going to propose. It was the most amazing evening ever! I would not have changed a single thing about the evening! It was so perfect! I love Daniel and I can't wait to marry him this summer! <3
